How to have Master Planning Ignore the Quantity of an Item in a Specific Warehouse in Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 SP2 and Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009
In order to have Master Planning disregard the quantity of an item in a specific Warehouse in AX, the following setup must be enabled:
1. The "Coverage plan by dimension" in the Dimension Group of the item must be checked.
2. Open Inventory Management, then Setup, then Inventory Breakdown, then Warehouse, then Master Planning tab, and check the Manual check box for the warehouse where you do not want Master Planning to analyze its quantity.
3. Specify the warehouse in the Sales Order of the item.
The following steps can be used to test the previous information.
1. Create a Warehouse named “Test” and have the Manual checkbox marked in the Master Planning Tab.
2. Create a Dimension Group named “Test” with only Warehouse as the active dimension and with the following checked:
o Primary Stocking
o Physical Inventory
o Financial Inventory
o Coverage plan by Dimension
3. Create an item “Test” with the following information
Inventory model group: FIFO
Dimension Group: Test
Inventory model group: FIFO
Dimension Group: Test
4. Create a Sales Order for 100 units of item “Test” and enter a warehouse other than “Test”.
5. Create and a counting Journal for 100 units of item “Test” in warehouse Test.
6. Run Master Scheduling by going to Master Planning, then choose Periodic, then choose Master scheduling.
7. Check the planned orders and you will see that there is a Planned Order created for 100 units of “Test” for the warehouse you entered on the Sales Order even though there inventory of 100 in warehouse Test for item Test.
